Poppyseed Markets Bulli 15/8/10

Wow! What an amazing day! We jumped in the car early Sunday morning for the lovely drive down the coast to the gorgeous seaside town of Bulli. Nerves were flying high on the way hahaha Our first market ever and we had no idea what to expect. No sooner had we set up, the doors opened and in came the crowds! From that moment the day flew by. We met some amazing fellow stallholders, beautiful customers & Wollongong locals! Our canvases were a big hit and having them there for people to see was so good. They got to see the quality first hand and we got to interact with customers face to face. We also had some of our gorgeous friends pop in to see how we were going. Thanks guys!!! We also had on show our Bella Tunno Binkers (dummy chains) which were a huge success, our ever gorgeous Giggleberry Buntings and for the first time ever...our new range of kids bed linen! It was such an exciting day! We had a great time and we're looking forward to doing it all again at the Poppyseed Markets at Bulli on the 30th October 2010!

Triple Choc Muffins Mmmmmm

Today I thought I would share with you one of my favourite chocolate muffin recipes! Be warned, you can't stop at one! I have to give credit to a family friend, lets call him... Adam, for sharing this yummy recipe with us! Adam came to me one day saying he had the yummiest muffin recipe. I was like yeah, yeah, because everyone thinks they have the BEST recipe. Needless to say my curiosity got the better of me and now these are my favourite to die for muffins!

Triple Chocolate Muffins

Ingredients:

2 cups self raising flour
1/2 cup cocoa
3/4 cup caster sugar
90g melted butter
1 egg
1 cup of milk chocolate bits
1 3/4 cups of milk

Icing:

1/4 cup icing sugar
125g cream cheese (leave out of the fridge for about 1/2 day to soften)
100g melted milk chocolate

Method

Heat oven to 190 degrees Celsius. Put muffin cases in muffin tray or spray if not using cases. Mix sifted self raising flour & cocoa and combine with castor sugar, melted butter, egg, choc chip bits and milk (sometimes I add a splash more milk and yes it's meant to look runny). Spoon mixture into muffin trays and cook for about 25 min. Cool.

Icing

Mix cream cheese, icing and melted chocolate together. (Yes its a bit tough but it builds muscle :-p) and spread onto muffins.

It suits perfectly as every little boy likes to play with swords and 'fight' either imaginary or real foes. I think this canvas captures perfectly every little boys wildest fantasy and everytime they look at it, it keeps their imagination alive and their playtime just that little more special.

I love the space themed canvas as Ben made up a story of him blasting off to outer space, flying around the bright stars, avoiding asteroids, seeing scary monsters and then landing safely back on earth to be greeted by me with a huge hug.

I love the fact that I could buy one for my 3yo and one for my 26yo brother who loves pirates and I find it hard to buy presents for him especially two at a time as his birthday is very close to Christmas.

Introducing our newest stockists of our canvas range, the Toy store at Market Fair, Campbelltown, NSW. Now! This would have to be one of my most favourite toy stores. What I have found is they stock those hard to find toys, you know - the ones we grew up with! The good old toys like wooden push toys on sticks, Playmobile, old fashioned push cars, gorgeous Tolo Baby Toys, beautiful doll houses, awesome trucks for boys including a fire truck that blows bubbles! Aaaah I could go on and on. If you are in the area, pop in and say hello & see our canvases in "real life". The owners Sue and Barry are just lovely and would be more than happy to help you.

Our first attempt at setting up a market stand!

The other weekend our friend had a 'shop at home day' and she invited us to have a stand. Very excited, we jumped at the opportunity to use this as our practice for markets. She lives on beautiful acreage on the outskirts of South West Sydney & she made it a 'kids day' too & asked us all to bring along bikes for the kids. It was a great day & we learnt so much. It was great having our products out on display & not just on a computer screen! Our stall was tiny but it was our humble beginning. I've included some pics of the day for you to enjoy.

Buntings? That's right! Our range is expanding! They should be online any day now.

This is our spunky son! He is our lil ambassador. He had an absolute ball. He's white shirt was definitely not white by the end of the day!

Earth Hour

Tonight is Earth Hour and Cute As A Canvas will be sitting in candle light. If it's anything like last year we had so much fun watching the candles and talking about what life would have been like for our grandparents we ended up leaving the lights off all night!
